How to Stop Self-Sabotage | Trauma Healing

One of many trauma healing truths is recognizing when we may be engaging in self-sabotaging behaviors. We don't always realize when we may be doing something to ourselves that could be delaying the healing process or slowing us down from reaching a goal. Not everything that happens is because of the devil!

It may shock some to learn that not everything we experience is because of the devil and narcissists. At least, not directly. Once we understand that the devil tries to get to us directly and when that fails, he sends a narcissist, and when that doesn't work, he wants us to self-sabotage. Self-sabotaging will prolong any kind of healing progress and give the enemy the illusion of power and control. Self-sabotage is something we often do without realizing it when we lack awareness!

It takes awareness of ourselves to learn what we are doing that is considered self-sabotage as all of our circumstances are unique to us. However, there are a few universal self-sabotaging behaviors that we all engage in or engaged in and that includes the foods we eat. As part of our movement here at CHA, we are pushing back against radio frequency for healthier living and that includes making better choices about the foods we buy and consume.

As we make better choices about the food we consume, we also learn to recognize when we are engaging in narcissistic habits we were involuntarily conditioned to think were normal. One of many examples of a narcissistic habit that causes financial self-sabotaging is buying more than we need. When we are around narcissists and taught to 'share' everything, we develop a thinking pattern to always include everyone else in our environment when buying food. While this is not inherently bad, it can become self-sabotaging if we continue to engage in buying more than we need when no narcissists are around. It puts an unnecessary dent in our pocketbook!

Of course, we learn to stop sharing everything with narcissists too as God tells us to stop hanging out with evildoers. The food example is just to help you put this topic into better perspective. Self-sabotage comes in many forms and how we think can also play a role in whether we trick ourselves into self-sabotaging. As we learn about how our thoughts control our nervous system, the autonomic nervous system (ANS) more specifically, we begin to see how quickly we can self-sabotage it by how we think and move.

For example, we may be thinking about getting something out of a cupboard and move too quickly, and "wham," we whack our elbow against something that triggers our ANS. Believe it or not, continuous whacking of the elbow over time can cause bruising and lead the ANS to "give up" letting us know we whacked it; meaning we will no longer feel the pain. Hence why we learn to slow down in God's reality as we don't need to move as fast as the world taught us to. We don't need to rush anything, especially trauma healing.

These are just some examples of how self-sabotaging behaviors occur if we are not aware of them. You can use these examples to figure out how you might be self-sabotaging to unlearn doing so to help level up your awareness, healing, and spiritual growth.
