How to Resist the Old Version of You

Trauma healing leads us into the transformation phase of life where we learn how to overcome triggers and more so we can become the best version of ourselves that God intended for us to become. We do experience moments on this journey where the old version of us wants to creep back in and we must learn to resist that old version of us so we can keep moving forward!

As we are being transformed by the renewing of our minds to heal from trauma, we must learn how to resist the old version ourselves. The old version of who we used to be will try to creep into our minds from time to time until we finally purge the subconscious of who that person used to be. How do we do that? We remind ourselves that who we used to be does not exist anymore because we are being created a new creature in Christ.

The old version of ourselves is reflective of a comfort zone where nothing grows. The matrix and narcissists don't want us to grow and evolve so they will play games, head games, to try and trick us into thinking we need to go back to the old way of doing things which leads to an old way of thinking. Old ways of thinking and doing things don't serve the kingdom of God. As part of trauma healing we are going through a transformation process to let go of old things, including the old version of who we used to be.

Resisting the old version of us requires reminders like most all things with trauma healing so we don't fall back into an old way of living or thinking. I have gone through moments where my old-self wanted to come back and trick me into doing something I used to do during previous seasons when I used to think it was "just the good old times." How did I avoid that trap? By reminding myself that I am not that person anymore and am becoming a new creature in Christ!

Once we understand that our old version must pass away, we are better able to evolve and grow into the best version God intended for us to become. We are not allowed to take the old version of ourselves into the future where God is taking us. We will face numerous temptations from the devil and the matrix daily and we will get better at rebuking in Jesus's name and resisting the devil. Keep on keeping on fellow warriors! Thank you for you joining us on this journey and for your continued support. Love and light.
